__________ THE BACK STORY

New Team, New Identity

The Columbus Mavericks are proud members of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). When the team ownership first approached us after being granted new franchise approval, they were looking for a comprehensive marketing solution, building from the ground up.

We started by building the team's brand identity, beginning with a family of logos. The ownership group knew they wanted something that would be bold, memorable, and inspiring. They were set on the name "Mavericks" and wanted to play off of the fighter pilot ethos. To support this concept, we created a family of logos and insignias that evoked that theme.

Look Good Feel Good

Once the logos had been finalized, the next critical step in the process was to develop a set of team uniforms that would bring the brand to life. The owners wanted to create a visual identity on the ice that would not only give the players pride and confidence, but also spark passion from the team's new fan base.

We accomplished these goals by creating a set of home and away uniforms that merged iconic and classic styles with the modern lines of the new logo.

From Screen to Shining Screen

We are living in a world dominated by digital media, and hockey is no exception. The team knew that if they wanted to make a splash with both players and fans during their inaugural season, they would need to establish a prominent digital presence.

We accomplished this by building the team's website from the ground up with the user experience front and center. We bolstered the team's digital footprint by designing and executing a digital marketing strategy, including cross-platform social media and email campaigns that featured bold imagery.

Tying It All Together

As the inaugural home opener drew closer, we worked with the team to develop a number of tangible touchpoints and marketing collateral that reinforced the brand recognition and improved the fan experience. These items included game tickets and programs, memorabilia and apparel, and even business stationary for the front office and coaching staffs.
